Liberia

Goodness and Mercy’s commitment to serve homeless women and
children has led us to Liberia.
Liberia is located on the Atlantic in the southern
part of West Africa.
Liberia was founded in 1822 as a result of the
American Colonization Society to settle freed American
slaves in West Africa
Americo-Liberians, descendents of
former American slaves, modeled Liberia after the United
States, so much that Liberia’s flag looks just like that of
the United States minus all but one star… Liberia got its’
Independence from the United States on July 26, 1847 and
became the republic of Liberia
Today Liberia is recovering from a
civil war that lasted a little more than a decade, leaving
many women and children homeless.
Once the war ended the people of Liberia found favor
in Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf and elected her as their President.
President Johnson-Sirleaf is Africa’s first female
President.
Goodness and Mercy has enlarged our
tent, stretched forth our curtains and strengthened our
stakes to serve and spread our mission to see our vision
everywhere.
